Global Sojourns is a different kind of travel company. With Global Sojourns, I know I am getting an experience curated with conservation at the forefront, supported by a deep respect for the culture and communities I’ll be visiting. Traveling with Global Sojourns gives me a sense of adventure while knowing that my travel has a positive impact on humans, animals, and the environment.

I have used global sojourns about 15 times in the past 20 years to plan my trips to Africa. Each time I give them a wish list and a budget and they come back with a trip tailored specifically for me. From looking for lemurs in Madagascar to gorilla trekking in Uganda to majestic sand dunes in Namibia and cultural experiences in Zimbabwe, Global Sojourns’ promise of “off the beaten path” trips have provided truly unique and special adventures. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

And a huge shout out to Global Solutions for providing a small group safari along with cultural and conservation awareness! Most safaris simply allow one to see animals in the wild, which we did, but we also had the opportunity to visit with families in their villages and learn a great deal about the economy in three African countries. These experiences went far beyond a typical safari. One cannot return to a “normal” life in the US without realizing our extraordinary privilege.

We have been on the Rio Negro and the Amazon during the flood season. We’ve been to islands and villages in the Philippines, the Nile in Egypt, rafted through Cataract Canyon in the American Southwest and ridden mules to the bottom of the Grand Canyon… but our trip to Africa was the best vacation ever! Much of it had to do with the flawless and detailed planning of Global Sojourns.

Global Sojourns level of intimate knowledge, their degree of collaboration, their impeccable balance between the traveler’s interests and the community’s needs, and their 7/24 care is remarkable. No doubt, they’ll be planning my next trip to the continent.

I’ve traveled the world, largely on my own and without using an “agency.” But Global Sojourn’s isn’t really a travel or tour agency. Rather, their small but mighty team is a collection of experts devoted to their craft, and they never fail to deliver against their mission.

Priscilla and her team have been absolutely fabulous to work with and every trip they’ve designed has exceeded all expectations. She gets to know you and what you’re trying to get out of the trip (knowing that it’s a major investment in time and money), works within your budget (more is better of course but she can also do trips that don’t bust the bank) and always includes experiences where the traveler gets to know the people, the history, the culture and the daily issues that Africans wrestle with on a daily basis – healthcare, water, sanitation, education, basic needs, the role of women, etc. It’s not all about the animals, then landscape, the sunsets and the Southern Sky ! The interactions with local residents meeting them on their own terms has always been the most meaningful takeaway for our family.

What I love the most about Global Sojourns is their interest and commitment to local people who live around the attractions that travelers come to visit. It’s not all about money. It’s about people. And that’s what’s so special about Global Sojourns. What you guys do when you have your travelers engage with the community, especially with the kids, is one of the greatest initiatives that I wish many other organizations would do rather than throwing out sweets and pencils.
